the flood.

a shy hello from under my bedsheets. (no that's not me on the picture)

i just wanted to announce a little pause on the blog, since scumbag winter surprised me with the flu, and arouse some pity on that occassion. (pity me, already!) It has been two feverish, coughing, everything-hurts days, and I couldn't even prevail myself to read a little bit (to exhausting) okay now i'm pitying myself. I just wanted to say, there are some posts in the pipeline about a new mobile phone I plan to buy, and some other cool things I am looking forward to in the near future.
I leave you with something awesome:

Stay tuned. *coughcough*

It was about time for a new 8tracks mix. I already started it in november last year but I didn't have enough tracks back then, but now I am satisfied. Not sure about the cover, though, but I didn't want to make it up to the cover to finally release the mix. But I guess this one kinda fits in line with the other covers I have chosen for the past mixes. Whatever! It's about the music, right?

the entire city.

i have been checking out tons of music the last weeks, because right now i am desperate and hungry for new music. Every two or three months I need something to get badly obsessed with and then mostly I get a bit tired of it and I need to search for something fresh. So I checked out NME's 100 New Bands for 2012 list, as I once discovered some good new stuff back in 2010 from an NME's sampler with 50 new artists to watch out for. Amongst them Clare Maguire, Glasser or Sleigh Bells which I was glad to discover. Now some of the 100 new bands for 2012 were some I already knew and the rest was mostly not worth mentioning. Only two bands really caught my attention. The first one is called Exitmusic. I really liked their song The Modern Age, but I'm still not fully convinced with the rest of their music. The same applies to a band called 2:54. There is this song called Scarlet, which is kind of interesting.

But then, boys and girls, I finally found a way to cheat and use spotify (I don't know when it will ever be released in Germany and simfy on the contrary is just pissing me off with ads after every frexing song!)
and this is just paradise for me right now and yes I found a new obsession and it is called Gazelle Twin. It's hard for me to describe the music, but I guess people who dig Fever Ray, for example, would also like Gazelle Twin's tunes (although actually I don't dig Fever Ray, haha) But just listen for yourself:

ex libris.

Clumsy me left the last image for the best of 2011 series at work and so this entry comes a bit late-ish.
The shelf displays my 5 favourite books I read in 2011 (not all were also published in 2011).

Most of them have very young protagonists but are not necessarily only enjoyable for children. In fact some of them are quite dark and disturbing. Basically this year, I experienced, that I am a lot into dystopia themed stories. There is one book in particular, that made me realise this. It's THE HUNGER GAMES by Suzanne Collins but it's not on the list, because I read it during the holidays. So currently my wishlist for books is exploding with young adult dystopian novels I would love to read all at once.

I also finished my Goodreads Reading Challenge of reading 25 books during 2011. I have to admit I overestimated my self a little and challenged myself to read 50 books. Uhm..yeah. And these are the books I have read in 2011. I was pretty lazy in the beginning of the year and also only read the german versions, but currently I am focussing on original versions again.
